Gemma Hanson-Crickmore

Gemma has worked in the Care Sector from beginning her apprenticeship at just 16 years old. From there she gained her Level 2 and quickly progressed onto a Senior Care Assistant role and deputy Managers duties. 

Gemma had a keen interest in Care and business from leaving school and gained a GNVQ advanced in Business and Finance at South Tyneside College in 2000.

After college Gemma went on to Northumbria University to study Nursing and completed her training in 2003. Working in both the NHS and private sectors Gemma then completed her Level 4 and Registered Managers award . 

Her love for both care and nursing since has developed along with her role. She completed her Certificate in Education to teach in Health and Social Care and gained her assessors award for NVQ's and Diplomas etc.

Gemma along with her business partners (mother ) Gillian Hanson and (sister) Julie Hanson begin there journey with City Care home support agency back in April of 2005. City Care was developed alongside the families residential care business which had been operating with Gillian as Sole provider for over 25 years. The residential care home was sold to another provider and Gemma/ Julie and Gillian entered into the home support sector. The business has grown dramatically over the last 12 years and Gemmas role has developed throughout the business from caring out in the community (to grow the company) to supervising new staff, co-ordinating care, dealing with finance and general invoicing , quality auditing systems, health and safety, risk assessing, registered managers role to partnering with Kare Plus Nursing services and outside companies for delivering training in house to staff and external bodies.

Gemma says:
